Days until Halloween: 51
It's party time again and what better theme for a party than a Batman theme? Below you will find all the information you will need to organize your Batman themed event for you and your friends to enjoy. But first, a little more about the Dark Knight.
As you may well know, Batman is a fictional superhero created by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. He first appeared in the 27th issue of Detective Comics in May of 1939 and features a normal man doing extraordinary things. Perhaps it is this very quality that sets Batman apart from other superheroes as they often have to rely on other qualities like superhuman strength and speed, among others, to defeat their enemies. In addition, Batman often requires the help of his friends to see him through his various quests. Perhaps the most loyal among these friends is Alfred Pennyworth, the aged British butler.
And, when Batman isn't being Batman, he lives the life of luxury as the super rich Bruce Wayne. But don't think this is all for vanity as Bruce Wayne's time is often spent on studying various technologies and investing in ideas to help Gotham city become free of crime.
Unlike other superheroes, Batman possesses normal human qualities which he combines with intellect, physical prowess and technology to defeat his villainous counterparts. And when things get really tough, Batman has his faithful sidekick, Robin, and his butler, Alfred Pennyworth, to count on. And just in case you ever wondered where the name Bruce Wayne comes from, we'll tell you: it's a mixture between Robert Bruce (of Scotland) and Mad Anthony Wayne.
Right now, however, it's time to party!
Below you will find some useful ideas
for Batman Party invitations. Should you require any of the materials
or items necessary, just ask your parents to help by purchasing them
from a retail store in your area or from the internet. And remember,
including the following information in your invitation will ensure
that your guests will have all the information they need.
Party Name: Think of a really cool name for your party, like “The Dark Knight's Batcave Feast”

Invite your friends to your Batman party using the ultimate Batman design as an invitation. For this you will need a computer loaded with the appropriate software as well as a printer. If you don't have a printer, simply ask someone you know to have one if you can use theirs or take the final design to your local printing store.
Now, to start off, you will need an appropriate image of the dark knight. This can be one you drew yourself or one you took from media publicly available. Whichever you choose, be sure that you have the necessary permission to do so. When you have the suitable image add your party name in a font appropriate to the theme. Once that's done, simply add the details of your party on the inside or flip side of the card and get it printed.
If you are having trouble with the
layout of your design, use a template that you can find included in
most word processors or on the internet.
At a Batman party everyone wants to be Batman, naturally. As such it would be a good idea to supply all the invitees with Batman masks, along with the invitation!
For this invitation you will simply
need to go down to your local toy store or browse on the internet to
get a mask for each of the guests you wish to invite. Once you have
the masks, simply write the invitation on the inside or add a little
invitation card with all the necessary details.
When Gotham is in trouble, what do they do? You guessed it, they light up the Bat sign.
In this invitation you will be supplying all your friends with Bat signs as a signal that they should come to your party. For this purpose you will need to get a flashlight for each of them. These are available either on the internet or in retail stores in your area.
Once you have the flashlights you will have to cut out as many cardboard Batman emblem shapes. Remember to keep the size small enough so that it will fit over the lens of the flashlight.
And when all has been done, simply attach a little invitation card with all the details to the flashlight and get ready to deliver them!
On your invitation, all you will need
to do is state “Batman”. If you want your guests to come as other
characters such as the Joker, the Penguin or Catwoman, just state the
like on your invitation.
Here are a couple of decorations to
consider for your Batman Party. For this party you can either try and
recreate the Batcave or Bruce Wayne's mansion. Here are a couple of
ideas for decorations:
Batsigns on the ceiling and against the wall (glow in the dark)
Giant Joker playing cards
Black bin bags against the walls (if you want to go for the Batcave look)
Batman plates and mugs
As there is no formal announcement for this kind of party, you can simply annouce your friends as they arrive or, if they are dressed up as a certain character, their character name.
Party favors are small gifts that you
can give your friends when they arrive at the party. These items are
often used as reminders of a good party or at the party itself. Below
you’ll find a couple of ideas which you and your parents can buy
from a store in your area or from the internet.
Batman Torch
Batman Weapons
Batman Sign
Batman Mask
Joker Smile
Joker Playing Cards
There’s nothing like a good party activity to ensure that a great time is had by all. Below are a couple of ideas which you can use and change as you want to suit the purposes of your party.
Start your party early and watch as
many Batman films as you can. Here are a list of the titles:
The Dark Knight (2008)
Batman Begins (2005)
Catwoman (2004)
Batman & Robin (1997)
Batman Forever (1995)
Batman Returns (1992)
Batman (1989)
Cut a piece of paper in as many squares as there are people playing and mark a single one of them with an ‘X’. Now place all the squares, including the one with the ‘X’ into a bag.
Once you and your guests are seated in a circle, pass the bag around, each of the players only taking one piece of paper. The one who has the ‘X’ is Batman, but should take care to conceal his identity.
When every one has their piece of
paper, the games begins! For Batman to stay in the game, he or she
has to knock other opponents out by winking at them. But he’s not
allowed to be seen! All other players who haven’t been chosen as
Batman, should watch each other’s eyes to ensure Batman gets
caught. If someone suspects who the Batman might be, he or she should
say “I see the Batman!” and point out who they think is Batman.
If they are right, then Batman is knocked out and the game should
start again. However, if they are wrong, they are knocked out of the
game.
As you may well know, Batman had to be very accurate when it came to his weapons. He was not indestructible and often had to be successful with whatever he attempted. As such, you and your fellow Batmen should practice by arranging a couple of targets next to each other. Be sure that the targets vary in size. Once done, measure ten feet away and use your weapons to knock the targets back (if you don't have weapons, use water balloons or squirt guns).
While hitting the smallest target will award you the most points,
hitting the biggest will give you the least. The winner is the person
with the most points.
This activity should be done in turns by a group consisting out of say three or four individuals.
What everyone has to do is watch a scene from a Batman movie and agree on one that's really cool but still possible to act out. Once everyone has watched the scene a couple of times, the group should leave to practice the scene as they will be acting it out. After about five minutes they should return and act out the scene. Those watching should award points for accuracy and artistic endeavour.
Use normal food but give it themed names. Here are a couple of ideas:
Catwoman's Tail: French Fries
The Joker's Face: A pizza that looks like the joker
Penguin Burgers: Normal Burgers
Bad Man's Fingers: Hot Dogs
As for drinks, you may server whatever you like. Try and mix different kinds of sodas and give it special names.
