Introduction

Firefighters are those individuals who go around saving lives day after day, and are often considered some of the bravest people in the world. After all, it takes some guts to run into a burning building and help those who are stuck. And if you are thinking of having your very own firefighter party, then we'll provide you with some valuable tips and information. But first, let's take a closer look at the responsibilities of a firefighter.

What do you think is it that firefighters actually do? Well, we all know they are trained to extinguish fires and save lives, but did you know that their other responsibilities also include saving property and also looking after the environment? It is indeed one tough job with a lot of responsibility! That's why firefighters have to train hard and regularly. Here are a couple of skills often stressed during firefighter training:

  • Fire Prevention
  • Fire Control
  • Rescue - People and Property
  • Self preservation (yes, firemen have to look after themselves too so that they will be able to save even more lives.)

And there to exercise control and look after firemen is of course a chain of command. For those who want to use this chain of command as a theme for their party, here's a brief list:

  1. Chief Fire Officer

  2. Assistant Chief Fire Officer

  3. Divisional Officer

  4. Assistant Divisional Officer

  5. Station Officer

  6. Sub Officer

  7. Leading Firefighter

  8. Firefighter

That being said, let's get down to business and start organizing that party!

Firefighter Party Invitations

Below you will find some useful ideas for Firefighter Party invitations. Should you require any of the materials or items necessary, just ask your parents to help by purchasing them from a retail store in your area or from the internet. And remember, including the following information in your invitation will ensure that your guests will have al the information they need.

  • Party Name: Give your party a heroic name to reflect the theme of your party. Think of something like “Amy's Firefighter Bash” or “The Fireman's Fiesta”

  • Salutation

  • Date & Time

  • Venue/Location

  • Dress Code

  • Contact Details

Firefighter Design

To make your firefighter design you will simply need a computer and a printer. If you don't have a printer pay a visit to your local printing company or ask a friend if you can use theirs.

To start off you will need a template for your firefighter design. This is to ensure that your printer receives all the correct instructions from the computer to print out the invitation correctly. If you don't have one on your computer (MS Word, etc.) then log on to the internet and download one from there.

Once you have the template, get an image that you would like on the front of your invitation. Naturally this would be something related to the theme of your party - a fireman, a fireman's helmet, a fire hose, a fire truck, etc. Place this image on the front of your invitation along with your party name in a suitable font. When that's done, all you need to do is add the details of your party to the inside of the invitation (on the template) as well as some suitable decorations. And when finally done, simply get it printed and get ready to deliver.

Firefighter Helmet

From your local toy store or from the internet, get a plastic fireman's helmet for each of your friends. Additional to the fireman's helmet, you might want to design a suitable party invitation that will be printed onto clear stickers once they are printed. Take care to ensure that the design is not too big as it will be affixed to the back of the helmet.

To print the invitations onto stickers you will need the appropriate paper as well as a printer capable of doing the job. If you don't have any of these, simply contact your local printing firm or log on to the internet as there are many companies up to the task.

Remember, when designing the stickers, use a font suitable to the theme of your party.

When everything's done, simply peel off the sticker from the paper and adhere it to the back of the fireman's helmet.

If you don't feel like using stickers, just make a suitable paper invitation and place it inside the helmet.

Firefighter Award

Another invitation you can make by simply using a computer and a printer is the Firefighter Award For Bravery. For this you'll need a certificate template (if you don't have one on your computer, download it from the internet) a printer capable of printing on heavy paper and, of course, the paper itself (available from stationary shops and, in some cases, pre-printed with nice borders).

Now, of course you're wondering how to combine a certificate for bravery with an invitation, right? Well, it's all in the text. Here's an example:

New York City

Certificate of Bravery

This certificate is presented to

Once your design is complete, just have it printed (if you don't have a printer, then just contact your local printing firm and make use of their services).

Firefighter Party Guest Arrival & Announcement

Although there are no formal announcements for a fireman's party, you can ask your parents to announce your guests in a way similar to this one:

Firefighter Party Activities

There’s nothing like a good party activity to ensure that a great time is had by all. Below are a couple of ideas which you can use and change as you want to suit the purposes of your party.

Fire Safety Training

As it is a firefighter party, what would be better than to get yourself and your friends some training? In many instances members of the local fire department are willing to go out and provide training to groups of people at once. If you are having trouble finding someone to teach you some basic fire safety skills, then just look on the internet for suitably certified courses on the subject.

In addition, why not pay a visit to your local fire department once all your friends have turned up? This will make for a smashing event that is sure to be enjoyed by all and also be educational.

Save the Trapped

For this game you will need a fairly large area in which you can run around in. This area should then be divided in two, with two trap sections at the back of each.

Now you will have to divide into two teams and nominate one member of each team to be the trapped. He or she then has to go and stand in the other team's trap section and await rescue.

A rescue is performed by one member of a team running into the area of the other team while trying to evade capture. If someone is captured, they are placed in the trap area and have to wait for someone to come and rescue them. Should the person get through to the trap area without getting caught, he or she is safe for as long as they are in the trapped area. They then have to devise a way to get back into their own area without being caught.

Follow the Firefighter

If you're trapped in a burning building and someone comes to save you, you had better to exactly what they say – not only to ensure your safety, but theirs as well. As such the purpose of this game is to do exactly what the firefighter does.

Whoever gets elected as the firefighter has to run in front of the group with everyone else running in single file behind him or her. The firefighter can then run, skip, jump, be silly or do whatever he or she chooses... and it must be done by everyone! Ask a parent to check whether everyone's doing what they should. The person who fails to do what the firefighter does is eliminated from the current round and has to take the place of the parent for the next round. Whoever remains with the firefighter the longest gets to be the firefighter for the next round.

Fireball

Quite a fun game to play and all you will need to play it is a tennis ball or any other soft toy with which people can be thrown.

One person has to be selected as “IT” or the person throwing the fireball. He or she has to hit the others with the object while everyone has to evade their dangerous fireball. If someone is hit, they have to help “IT” hit everyone else. In addition you have to keep in mind that no one except the “IT” person and his or her team mates are allowed to touch the ball with any part of their bodies except with their fists. The fireball can be picked up between clenched fists and batted around the playing field to avoid “IT” or his team mates getting hold of it.

  • Chicken Wings

  • Pizza

  • Burgers

  • Burritos
