If you're passionate about football, then you'll know that football is in season, even when it's not. And as such every opportunity to have a party is a perfect opportunity for a football party. Below you'll find a number of tips that you'll be able to use to help you organize your very own football party! But first, a little more about football.
Those who love football, will know that it's a game that originated from rugby during the mid 19th century and was heavily influenced by one man, Walter Camp. But during those years it was more a game played at school and in colleges. However it soon became extremely popular and grew until it was played on national level. The first occurrence of this was in 1892 when William "Pudge" Heffelfinger accepted a $500 contract to play for Allengheny Athletic Association, however it would only be 30 years later in 1920 that the American Professional Football Association would be formed with the first game being played on October 3rd 1920. In 1922 the American Professional Football Association would change its name to the American Football League, perhaps more commonly known as the NFL.
A couple of years later in 1958, an event happened that would change football forever. It was the 1958 NFL Championship Game - also known as the "Greatest Game Ever Played" - and is often cited as the reason for the popularity of football today. Other noted events in football history include the formation of the American Football League in 1960 and the subsequent merger with the NFL that resulted in the Super Bowl.
That being said, let's get started with
organizing our party! If you're new to the game of football, then
you'll want to brush up on your football terminology as it can come
in handy when you are making invitations. Here are a couple of terms
and their respective definitions:
Below you will find some useful ideas
for Football Party invitations. Should you require any of the
materials or items necessary, just ask your parents to help by
purchasing them from a retail store in your area or from the
internet. And remember, including the following information in your
invitation will ensure that your guests will have all the information
they need.
Salutation:
Are you a whiz with graphics programs? Well if so, then why not make your very own football invitation? For this you'll only need a computer loaded with the appropriate software as well as a printer. If you don't have a printer, simply contact your local printing firm or someone who will let you use their printer.
Before you begin designing you will need a template for your football invitation. Once you have your template, it's time to create a cover image. This can either be with the colors and the emblem of your favorite team or anything else you think appropriate.
When you've got your design finished, place it on the front page of your invitation template along with the name of your party in an appropriate font. As soon as you think it looks good enough, include the rest of your party details on the inside of the invitation and get ready to have it printed.
If you and your friends are crazy about football, then why not make a party invitation out of a miniature football ball. This can either be one made of leather/plastic or even just a soft toy. And remember to get one for each of the friends that you wish to invite.
Now, once you have your football balls create a paper-based invitation (you can either write these or make them on the computer and then have them printed). When everything is done, just attach the invitation to the football ball and get ready to have them delivered.
The first thing you will need to do for this invitation is to get a football jersey for each of your friends. Next you will have to get in touch with someone capable of printing on the football jersey or capable of doing embroidery.
Once you have everything, simply take the jerseys and the invitations (which you have written out on a piece of paper with the correct wording and all the different names of your guests) to the person that will be doing the printing/embroidery. To ensure that your guests are well pleased with their invitations, make sure golden or silver thread is used.
To live up to the theme of your party,
be sure to state “football uniform” under the dress code on your
party invitation.
Football party decorations should be
easy to make. And, if you can't make them, be sure to pop down to
your local retailer or browse on the internet. Here are a couple of
our ideas for football party decorations:
Ask your parents to play the role of
sportscasters to announce your friends as they arrive. An example
introduction that you can use is “Ladies and gentlemen, please
welcome number 22, James 'The Crusher' Fielding”.
Party favors are small gifts that you
can give your friends when they arrive at the party. These items are
often used as reminders of a good party or at the party itself. Below
you’ll find a couple of ideas which you and your parents can buy
from a store in your area or from the internet.
There’s nothing like a good party
activity to ensure that a great time is had by all. Below are a
couple of ideas which you can use and change as you want to suit the
purposes of your party.
It's a football party and as such it would only be fitting to have a
game of football. Divide into two teams and appoint someone to be the
ref.
This is exactly like normal football, but with a slight difference... instead of using a normal football ball, use a balloon filled with water.
Another variation on the football theme
is to act as if the football ball is boiling hot. No one is allowed
to be in contact with the football for more than 2 seconds.
After a day of playing football with your friends, what could be better than to sit down and rest your legs while watching a couple of football films? Not only will this be entertaining, but it will add to the theme of the party.
One very important aspect of football is of course accuracy. As such it would be quite fitting to do a little target practice with your friends.
For this activity you will need a fairly large area, a couple of empty cans or empty plastic bottles and, naturally, a football ball. To start off you will need to place the cans or bottles about ten feet apart in length. This means 10 feet from where you are planning to throw from, then 20 feet, then 30 and so on.
The person who can throw the farthest and most accurately, wins.
This game requires a large open space where running is allowed and away from anything that can break or cause any injuries. First off, you and your friends have to divide in two more or less equal groups. Once that's done, the two groups have to decide which of them will be hiding the football in their area initially.
Once everything is decided, it's time for the game to begin! Each group has to set up base in an area obscured from the view of the other group. Members of both groups then have to send out members of the team to gather intelligence on the other groups' movements and try and figure out where the football ball is hidden. The team that hid the football ball will then naturally have to do the same to ensure that their treasure remains safe. As soon as the other team finds the football, they have to hide it in their area in the same way.
Football food and drink is of course a very important aspect of any football party – it's what gives you energy to perform at your best. Here are a couple of ideas:
