Introduction
What time is it? We'll tell you... it's party time! And to make for one great party, our current topic is the mobster party. Below you will find all the tips and information you need to organize the best mobster party for you and your friends. But before we begin, just a little more about mobsters.
Do you know what a mobster is? Well, the dictionary defines it as someone who is involved in organized crime that belongs to the mob. While this is more or less correct, we more often than not associate it with the Mafia. Now, if you want to impress your friends then you can tell them that the Mafia is actually known as the Cosa Nostra, a criminal Society that started in the early 19th century in Sicily, Italy. The Cosa Nostra consist of many groups, called families in English or 'coshe' in Italian.
And just in case you think the Mafia were always seen as bad people by everyone, then think again. During the 1950's the mafia were sometimes regarded as local heroes due to the fact that they often looked out for those who couldn't do so for themselves because of governmental problems at the time.
Other types of mobster also include bikers, terrorists and Old West outlaws who had any part in organized crime.
And that being said, it's time to party!

Mobster Mug
Invitations needn't only be cards that people keep on their dressers for a limited time - it could be something cool that your friends get to use every day.
For this invitation you will need to get a mug for each of your friends that you wish to invite. In addition, you will have to think of a design suitable to your party that you know will fit on the mug and impress your friends. Once that's done, take the mugs as well as the designs to someone who can print on mugs and ask them to do your invitations. If you are having any trouble with this, ask your parents for help and have a look on the internet.
Mobster Hat
Whether you want to use the Derby Hat or the Wise Guy Cap, the choice is up to you, but be sure to get one for each of the friends you wish to invite. In addition, make or buy some invitations relating to the theme of the party. When you have all the items, simply slip the invitation into the hat's ribbon (if it doesn't have one just affix it to the hat) and get ready to deliver.

Wanted Poster
Well, what can we say? Mobsters used to have continuous trouble with the law and as such it would only be fitting to design a 'Wanted' poster with your friends' mugs (faces) on each. So your first task will be taking your camera and asking your friends to pose for a couple of pictures each (ask them to pull mean faces).
Once you have the pictures it's on to the computer with the task of designing your wanted posters. Now be sure to use the correct text for the poster. Here's an example:
Wanted
Mario "Butter Fingers" Linguini
Invitation to attend Don Bueno's Mobster Gathering
Date: 17th of July 2009
Time: 5 pm.
Venue: The Mafia Mansion
Dress Code: Mobster
REWARD: To be decided.
As the above is only a rough mock-up, you may change the text in any way you like to suit your purposes. When you have it done, however, have it printed and get ready to deliver it.
Mobster Party Dress Code
Homburg hats, pinstripe suits, shiny shoes – these are things typically worn by members of the mob (in movies of course). For the purposes of your party, however, you can just state “mobster” or “mafia” on your invitations and your friends will know exactly what to dress as.

Mobster Party Activities
Ensure that your fellow mobsters all have a good time by organizing a couple of party activities for all to enjoy. Below you will find a couple of customized games.
Mobster Don
For this game you will need a large area where you and your friends can run around. To start off you will need a soft ball or anything else that can be thrown but wouldn't hurt when it hits the other person.
One person is selected as “IT” and has to throw the other players with the ball who are only allowed to handle the ball with their fists (“IT” can pick the ball up normally and use any other part of his or her body to touch the ball). Those who get hit are out until there is only one person left. That person becomes the Mobster Don and gets the chance to be the next “IT”.

Mobster Rescue
One of your fellow mobsters has been caught by the police and it is your duty to go and rescue him.
For this game a fairly large area where running is allowed will have to be divided into two. All the participants will have to be divided into two groups as well, with one participant from each group being the captured mobster.
One person from each group now has to run through the area of the other group to reach their captured team mate that is being held at the back of the other group's area. Once they reach their team mate they are safe, but now have to plan their return to their own area.
If anyone is caught, they become prisoners too.

Find The Boss
One participant has to be selected as the mobster boss and all the others have to be equipped with water balloons or squirt guns. Once someone has been decided upon all players have to go into hiding and count to 50. After 50 has been reached, all the other players have to look for the mobster boss without being seen by the other mobsters- if you see someone else looking for the mobster boss, then you have to use the water balloon or squirt gun to eliminate that person from the current round.
Should someone find the mobster boss they will be able to hide with that person and will be immune from round eviction. The first person to find the mobster boss will be the mobster boss for the next round.
Just note that the mobster boss is not allowed to have a water balloon or a squirt gun (because he can't be eliminated from the game).

The Stolen Item
Mobster families sometimes waged war even on each other and, as you can guess, there were often casualties and people being held captive and items of value being taken.
To start off, you and your fellow mobsters have to divide in two equal groups. Once that's done, the two groups have to decide on a single item to be used as the item of value and which one of the two families will be holding on to it.
Once everything is decided, it's time for the game to start! Each group has to set up their base or headquarters in an area hidden from the view of the other group. When in this area, they are safe from attack by squirt gun or water balloon by the opposing team. Members of both groups then have to send out teams to gather information on the other groups' movements as it is the purpose of the group holding the item to defend it and the other group to get it.

Food & Drink
What do mobsters like to eat? Pasta! If you decorated your place to resemble that favorite meeting place of the members of the underground (an Italian restaurant), then you can ask your parents to prepare any pasta you like. Oh, and don't forget the meatballs and pizzas!
As for drinks, well, why not make various kind of milkshakes and give them interesting names like “Jimmy's Handshake” or “Benny's Fist”?
