Introduction

Struggling to find a theme for your party? If so, then you can relax because we have just the topic to ensure that you and your friends will have the time of your life! And in this case, we're referring to a Pink Party. Below you will find all the necessary tips and bits of information that you will need to organize your party. But just before we get to that, a little more about... Pink!

You would never suspect it, but there are quite a number of facts about the color pink, and not all scientific. For example, did you know that the symbolic meaning of the color pink is joy and happiness? Or what about the fact that pink is the religious (Christian) color for the third Sunday of Advent? And then finally, one almost everyone should know: pink is the color usually associated with young girls and women in general. But wait, there's more and quite an unexpected one, too... during the Medieval times pink was one of the favorite hose-colors worn by men. Now how do you think they managed to make the color pink back in those days?

Rubia tinctorum is the Latin name for Madder, a European herb. It is the root of this plant that was used as a source of the color red for clothes and fabrics to not only produce red or pink, but other colors such as orange, coral, russet and brown. In fact, pink was such a popular color back then - even during the Elizabethan era in England - that it was written into the Sumptuary Laws! According to these laws, only people of a certain status could wear pink. This was because the color was used to reflect their position in society.

And having said that, it's time for us to move on and get started on organizing our pink party! So get something to write with and to write on and take some notes.

Pink Party Invitations

Below you will find some useful ideas for Pink Party invitations. Should you require any of the materials or items necessary, just ask your parents to help by purchasing them from a retail store in your area or from the Internet. And remember, including the following information in your invitation will ensure that your guests will have all the information they need.

  • Party Name: BE sure to give your party a fitting name with the theme in the title. An elementary example would be “Joanna's Pink Fandango”.

  • Salutation

  • Date & Time

  • Venue/Location

  • Dress Code

  • Contact Details

  • Additional information…

Pink E-Card

If you've read our introduction, then you will know that pink has been a rather prominent color throughout history. And as such, you wouldn't be wrong if you made an E-card, or perhaps more appropriately called an E-invitation, which you could send to all your friends.

For this invitation you will need a computer loaded with the appropriate software and an Internet connection. Additionally, if you think you will be having trouble making this invitation (if your computer skills aren't that good), just ask your parents or someone else you may know to have some skill to help you.

Now first off you will need to open your favorite search engine. For this we used Google, though you can use whichever one you like. Next up, you'll have to type in the word "E-Invitation". In many cases people also use "E-card". Either one is fine and should deliver results aplenty. Depending on the site, you may have to enter the details of your party into a form on the website. If the site in question is only offering a template, then you may have to edit it yourself.

And finally, once the details of your party have been entered onto the card, simply enter your friends' e-mail addresses and get ready to deliver! As simple as that.

Pink Art

This invitation can either be printed or be sent out as an e-invitation, depending on your computer skills. And all it will require is for you to scour the Internet for art with something pink in it. This can again be done using your favorite search engine and typing in the search phrase "Pink Art".

Once you have the art, all you will need is a template for your invitation. These can either be downloaded from the Internet or be found in programs like word processors and image editing programs. When you have your template and the art you wish to use, simply combine them and enter the details of your party.

Now as said before, this invitation can either be used as an e-invitation or as a normal paper-based invitation. If you are planning on the latter, you will need a printer and some nice paper to print your invitations out on.

Pink Calendar

We've always maintained that the best invitation is one that those who will be receiving it can use. As such, the pink calendar is the perfect choice!

For this invitation you will need a computer loaded with the appropriate software (like Microsoft Excel or Adobe InDesign), an Internet connection (to download the calendar background) and a printer. Those will be able to make their own calendars, go right ahead. If you need some instruction, simply open your favorite search engine and type in "how to make your own calendar". There are hundreds of tutorials on the Internet, some of which supply you with a ready made template.

And when you are finally done designing, you will have to enter the details of your party. Now this can be done on the date of your party (if there is enough space) or on the back (though be sure to make it big enough so that your friends will notice it). After that, it is simply a question of getting them printed before handing them out to those friends you wish to invite.

Pink Party Dress Code

Well, the party theme says it all – pink! This means anything pink goes. But if you have something different in mind, then be sure to state it under the “Dress Code” section of your invitations.

Pink Party Decorations

Here are a couple of decorations to consider for your Pink Party. If you aren’t planning on making them yourself, then just ask your parents to help you purchase them from the appropriate retailer in your are or from the Internet.

  • Pink Banners

  • Streamers (though perhaps combine pink streamers with other colors to avoid monotony).

  • Balloons (use different colors here too)

  • Posters with pink

  • Pink plates and cups

  • Pink tablecloths

Pink Party Guest Arrival & Announcement

What you could do to welcome your friends to your party is to make a Hawaiian Lei for each friend that will be attending. As soon as they arrive, greet them at the door and hang the Lei around their neck. Also be sure to introduce those friends that don't know each other yet to ensure that everyone feels welcome.

Pink Party Favors

Party favors are small gifts that you can give your friends when they arrive at the party. These items are often used as reminders of a good party or at the party itself. Below you’ll find a couple of ideas which you and your parents can buy from a store in your area or from the Internet.

  • Pink T-shirts

  • Pink piggy banks

  • Key rings

  • Chocolate

  • Soaps

  • Jewelery

Pink Party Activities

There’s nothing like a good party activity to ensure that a great time is had by all. Below are a couple of ideas which you can use and change as you want to suit the purposes of your party.

Pink Song Lyrics

If you are reading this, then it is safe to assume that you like the color pink. Now the only question that remains is: do you like music? If so, then you will love this activity!

To start off, you and your friends will need to decide on a song that you all like. Once you have selected one, play it on your stereo system for all your friends to hear. And while it's playing, hand out some paper and something to write with because, as soon as the song is done, it will be time for you and your friends to compose your own lyrics to go hand-in-hand with the theme of your party.. pink! Your lyrics can be as funny as you want or as serious, but they have to fit in with the song.

Once that's done, ask your parents to record you and your friends singing your party anthem! This will make a great memory for years to come!

Pink Film Marathon

The name says it all and it is the perfect activity for a party, especially if you and your friends are having a sleep-over. Needless to say, you will have to go round your local video rental shop before the party starts and get your hands on a couple of films with something pink in them. Here are a couple of ideas:

  • The Pink Panther

  • Power Rangers (with the Pink Power Rangers)

  • Grease (with the Pink Ladies)

  • Pretty in Pink

Pink Art

After hours of fun writing lyrics and watching films, there's nothing better than getting those creative juices flowing and making your own pink art. Ask your mom and dad to help you get your hands on a coupe of blank sheets of paper, some glue, paint, glitter, scissors and magazines before the party starts. When it's time for the activity, inform your friends what they will be doing and along which guidelines (if you won't be giving them free reign).

To make it really interesting, have yourself an art competition (which means your parents will have to buy an award for the most creative piece of art).

Pink Pool Disco

And finally, probably one of the most enjoyable Pink Party activities - the Pink Pool Disco. All you will need here is something to play music with that everyone will be able to hear and dance to and as many pink balloons, balls, pool noodles, etc. in the swimming pool. Once everything is ready, simply jump in and have a great time!

Food & Drink

As it is a Pink Party, it would only be fitting to have some pink colored foods on the table. Here are a couple of our ideas which you can use. For recipes, just have a look on the Internet or pay a visit to your local candy store/bakery/delicatessen for some ready-made products.

  • Strawberry ice cream

  • Strawberry milkshakes

  • Pink donuts

  • Egg salad sandwiches with some paprika (be sure to test them first to ensure you like them).

  • Pink cakes

  • Pink lemonade
