In a kingdom far, far away there once lived a princess who longed to have a party for all of her princess friends. And if you are in the same position, then we have the very thing that could help you organize a bash of royal proportions. Below you will find all the tips and tricks you'll need to organize the event. Get a notepad and a pen and get ready to make some notes!
Now, because you will be having a fairytale party to go with your fairytale life, it will be important to have some background information on some of the most well known princesses in fairy tales and films. Do you know any? Here are a couple of names if you need any help.
Princess Pea (voiced by Emma Watson) in The Tale of Despereaux - a sad and longing princess who gets rescued by a chivalrous knight... the little mouse Despereaux.
Princess Snow White - We all know the story of Snow White, a princess whose real mother dies at her birth and soon after gets a stepmother when the king remarries. Unfortunately Snow White's new mother doesn't like her too much and sends her into the forest to be killed by a hunter. But the hunter can't kill her and tells her to hide in the forest. As such, Snow White meets the dwarfs and agrees to do their housekeeping in return for a bed and some food. But the evil queen realizes that Snow White is still alive and tries to kill her. She finally succeeds with a poisoned apple. Upon seeing this the dwarfs grow sad and place her in a glass coffin. When one day a prince is riding through the forest he sees Snow White in the coffin and falls in love with her. After convincing the dwarfs to give her to him, the prince orders his servants to carry the coffin. But one of them stumble and the coffin falls to the ground with an impact great enough to dislodge the poisoned apple from Snow White's throat. Snow White awakes and she and the prince lived happily ever after.
Princess Ariel - From the story of the Little Mermaid, Ariel is a mermaid princess who falls in love with a human prince after saving his life. Desperate to be with him, she visits the sea witch who gives her a potion that will give her legs in return for her beautiful voice.
There are of course many, many more fairy tales with different kinds of princesses which you can use to base your princess party character on. Just pay a visit to your local library and borrow some of their books. Right now, however, it's time to get going with party organization!
Below you will find some useful ideas
for Princess Party invitations. Should you require any of the
materials or items necessary, just ask your parents to help by
purchasing them from a retail store in your area or from the
internet. And remember, including the following information in your
invitation will ensure that your guests will have all the information
they need.
Party Name: Give your party a royal name like “Princess Emma's Royal Do”
Salutation
Date & Time
Venue/Location
Dress Code
Contact Details
Additional information…
For this invitation you will need a computer loaded with the appropriate software as well as a printer. If you don't have a printer, ask someone you know if you could use theirs when the time comes or take it down to your local printing store and make use of their services.
Now, first and foremost when designing the princess invitation you have to decide on the general theme of your party. Will you be having one based on a fairy tale or will you be having one according to your own ideas and/or desires. When you have decided it's time to move on to the next step.
Using the computer, select an appropriate image for the front of your invitation. This can be anything to do with any fairy tale (that involves a princess) of your choice or entirely your own design. Once you have the design ready, use an appropriate font or even word art to write the name of your party at the top of the image.
The next step is to include the details of your party on the flip side or the inside of the invitation. If you are having trouble with the layout of your invitation, just use a template that you'll be able to find in almost all word processors or on the internet.
When you are done and happy with your
design, simply have it printed off and get ready to deliver!
As you all know, princesses are royalty and usually get to wear the according head wear. And keeping that in mind, why not ask your parents to help you get each of the friends that you want to invite a tiara?
When you have all the tiaras, simply
create a nice and elegant paper invitation (perhaps with a fairy
motif) and attach it to the tiara.
Along with the tiara, princesses often wear really expensive jewelery. For this invitation you will need to get some royal jewelery for each friend that you want to invite. Our idea was a diamond necklace but if you want to get them something else, it's up to you.
Now in addition to the royal jewelery, you will want to design an invitation for each of your friends. This can be done using our Princess Invitation above or by buying the appropriate ones at your local invitation card supplier (or from the internet).
Remember to include the details as
listed above so that your royal friends will know all they need to
enjoy your party to the full.
What would be more fitting than royal
attire to a royal party? If you are planning to invite different
types of nobility to your party, be sure to state it as such on your
invitations.
Here are a couple of decorations to
consider for your Princess Party. If you aren’t planning on making
them yourself, then just ask your parents to help you purchase them
from the appropriate retailer in your are or from the internet.
Castle Backdrops
Thrones (Decorate a chair)
Pink & White Frills
Crowns
Royal Cups & Plates
White Stallions
To announce your guests to your
princess party you will need a royal chamberlain waiting at the door
to announce them as they arrive. An example announcement is “Her
royal highness, the princess Alexandria”.
Ensure your guests remember your party
for times to come by providing them with items that you know they
will be able to use. These are available from your local retailer
that stocks princess items or from the internet. Here are a couple of
ideas:
Key chains
Crowns
Princess Jewelery (fake)
T-shirts
Mugs
Shawls
The life of the party is obviously the
activities as it brings everyone together. If you don't have any
activities planned, just have a look at the list below for some of
our ideas.
For this activity you will all need to gather in a rather large area. At one end of the area you will need to place a chair and nominate someone to be the princess for the round. The princess then has to sit on the chair with her crown under the chair. Now, while everyone is facing her (and she is sitting with her back to everyone else, someone should steal the crown).
When the crown is taken and the thief has returned to his or her
seat, the princess should turn around and try and guess who stole the
crown. If she can guess in three guesses, then she gets to go again.
If she can't, then a new princess has to be nominated.
This is your normal game of musical chairs, where everyone dances to music around a couple of chairs. As soon as the music stops everyone has to dash for a seat – but take care to ensure that there is one less chair than there are people playing. When the music is started again, one chair has to be removed from the lot.
The winner is the last person left sitting.
Now, to make it more interesting, why
not invent a royal waltz for you and your friends to enjoy? Everyone
has to learn and participate and only break from the waltz once the
music stops.
As we all know, the royal face is one that should not be perturbed – should it not want to. This helps when facing grave dangers and extreme pressures as the whole nation looks up to royalty.
For this game you will need a chair and
someone to embody the role of princess. The princess then has to sit
on the chair and keep a strait face while everyone else, in turns,
tries to pull the funniest faces or tell the funniest jokes they know
with the aim to get the princess to smile. If the princess doesn't
smile or laugh, she gets to go for another round. If she cracks a
smile, well, then it's time to nominate another princess.
If you don't know how this game works, then here's a quick little run-through:
Someone has to think of a noun like a car, airplane, an animal or anything else that comes to mind. The other participants then has to ask that person some questions to try and guess what he or she is. Whoever guesses correctly is the next one to choose a noun.
What do you suppose royal foods and drinks are? Well, most probably no less than expensive caviar, foie gras, etc. But those are all expensive foods and are more often than not acquired tastes. For the purpose of your party, you can have normal foods but ensure that they look like pieces of art.
Ideas here include taking a slice of pizza and cutting it into little squares that are then arranged around some type of garnish and small drops of pizza sauce. Take care to note that the plates should be large and plain colored for the best possible effect (though do ensure that whatever you choose to serve your guests is liked by all).
