Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters movie

For anyone who grew up in the 1980s the Ghostbusters movies were classics from that decade and everyone knows the theme song written and performed by Ray Parker Jr., “Who Ya Gonna Call?  Ghostbusters!”  With a funny and often corny script in each of the two Ghostbuster movies and an all-star comedic cast with Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, and Sigourney Weaver the movies were a smash hit and the song was popular and frequently heard on the radio.  Now, more than 20 years later, there is going to be a Ghostbusters III movie coming out in 2012, featuring the old cast (hopefully all of them) and a new cast of next-generation Ghostbusters.  With all this excitement, Ghostbusters costumes might just become very popular in the next couple of years.

The Ghostbusters saga began with three mediocre scientists, Dr. Ray Stantz, Dr. Egon Spengler, and Dr. Peter Venkman, who are fired from their comfortable university jobs and decide to go out on their own as the men who hunt down ghosts and who can rid New Yorkers of their worst nightmares.  They  become extremely famous when they literally save the city from a ghastly terror from the past and then they do it again in Ghostbusters II.  They pick up a few friends along the way, including the lovely Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver), the geeky accountant Lewis Tully (Rick Moranis), the flaky Janine Melnitz (Annie Potts), and the fourth Ghostbuster Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson).

For those who want to bring back the Ghostbusters memories before the release of the new movie next year, dressing up as a Ghostbuster this coming Halloween would be a fun way to do it.  You can suit up and strap on your proton pack so that you can hit the town and take down all the ghosts you see.  On Halloween night you will be one busy Ghostbuster.  Who knows, you might even see Slimer as you cruise around the neighborhood.  There are also plenty of Ghostbusters decorations that you can get to decorate your home for Halloween or for that Ghostbusters theme party you know you want to host.  Even if you get invited to a movie character theme party or any other type of costume party, you can't go wrong dressing up as one of the Ghostbusters, whether you want to be the arrogant Dr. Venkman, the brainy Dr. Spengler, or the geeky Dr. Stantz.

The Ghostbusters will go down in history as one of the cult classics of the 1980s and with the new Ghostbusters III movie due to come out in 2012 the boys – and girl (yes it is rumored there will be a female Ghostbuster) – with the proton packs will be back to bring it alive for a new generation.  Whether you are a man or woman, boy or girl, dressing up as one of the Ghostbusters is a fantastic way to spend your Halloween and show off some of that 1980s spirit.  Just throw in some snide comments, rude humor, and pseudo-science, and you will fit right in as one of those famous Ghostbusters.  You may not be able to get the Statue of Liberty to walk through New York, but you sure can rock the town in your own way.
