Werewolf costume
You have decided that you want to be one of the scariest creatures known to humans – well, one of the scariest mythical creatures that is. Yes, it is the werewolf and this creature is definitely on the list of traditional and frightening Halloween costumes. We have seen werewolves portrayed in movies many time. The
Harry Potter series does it well because in these books we are shown a werewolf that is a nice fellow, Professor Lupin, and one that is everyone's worst nightmare, Fenrir Greyback. As a werewolf this Halloween you will need to decide whether you are a nice one or not, but no matter what, when that full moon comes out, you will lose control.
Whether you are a child or an adult, dressing up as a
werewolf is easy and relatively inexpensive. You can use a lot of things from home or find them in your local thrift shop. You will need a black or brown track suit or other type of shirt and pants. You can cut the bottom of the pants and the sleeves to make a jagged looking edge. This is to be the foundation of your costume and to this you can actually add faux fur to make this werewolf truly authentic. You can purchase a ready-made headpiece, mask, and hands to complete your furry look or you can make your own furry look with ease.
To make your own fur accents you will need 1/2 yard of faux fur in brown or black, depending on the color you choose. You will also need scissors and a glue gun or fabric glue. First you can cut a strip of fur about an inch wide and glue this around the collar of the shirt. Then you can turn the shirt inside out and cut holes all over the shirt. Glue piece of fur to these holes and make the fur stick out the front of the shirt from behind. When you turn the shirt right side out you will see that there is a furry creature lurking beneath the shirt. Do the same with the pants, and be sure to make fur stick out from the ends of the sleeves and legs as well.
You will also need a brown or black knitted hat and to this you will add ears and fur. You can use cardboard or even an index card cut into ear shapes to use as a backing for the ears. You then glue a piece of fur onto each backing and glue those to the hat. You can glue additional fur around the edge of the hat and you can add more if you wish. You will need black or brown shoes and you can glue the remaining fur to these.
To finish the look you will need some fabulous fangs, which can be purchased in any costume shop and you will also need face makeup. You can purchase makeup kits that are specifically for a werewolf look and then you just have to make up your face to look like that scary werewolf from your most terrible nightmares. To finish it off you can add black finger nails and some blood dripping from your mouth.
With your fantastic new
werewolf look you will be a big hit on
Halloween. If your child is going trick-or-treating as one, then all the neighbors will be wondering who this scary little monster is. This homemade costume is easy to make, won't break the bank, and it is highly effective. In fact, many of the best costumes are the ones that are homemade. So check out your closet, hit the thrift shops and discount stores, and make yourself into the scariest creature around this Halloween when you dress up as a werewolf that is ready to feast on all those who dare to venture out on Halloween night.
