Introduction

Fancy yourself a bit of a traveler with an interest in foreign cultures? If you do, then this party might just be the thing you are looking for. Below you will find all the necessary tips and information to organize your Around the World party, so be sure to take some notes as we go along. But before we get to the actual organization, just a little more about our current theme.

Now of course we could go on about Mr. Philias Fogg, but seeing as you are teens and crave something interesting that's not so much about history than interesting factoids, we've decided to compile a list of things you might not have known but are nevertheless very interesting.

Did you know that the Japanese national anthem is only four lines long while the Greek anthem has 158 verses?
For those intending to travel to Thailand, Loas or Cambodia, you might be able to make use of their 27-hole golf course. Even if you go to just one of those mentioned countries, you'd be able to visit all three as the golf course is located on the border between the three countries with nine holes in each. Though apparently the only problem is that the proposed site is currently a minefield.
India has a bill of rights for cows (cows are considered holy in India).
There are no illiterate people in Iceland. In fact, they are required to speak at least 3 different languages.
How many sheep do you think there are on the Falkland Islands? Over 700,000. Now compare that to a population of about 2,000 people. That's about 350 sheep for every person!

And That being said, it's time to get down to business and get going on our party organization!

Around the World Movie Poster

This invitation will require the use of a computer loaded with the appropriate software as well as a printer. Should you not have a printer, ask someone that does if you can use theirs. Do take note that you will have to print it poster size, so if the printer you have or intend to use isn’t capable of it, then you will have to make use of a printing firm.

To start off, you'll have to collect images from around the world that reflects the theme you wish to use for your party. Get as many as you can and, using the appropriate image editing software, arrange them into a collage for use on the front page of your party invitation template. Once you have done that, add the name of your party as the title of your fictional movie and the details of your party as the credits.

Once done and you are satisfied, print them all out and get ready to deliver.

Wonders of the World T-shirt

If you have some money to spend on invitations, then give your friends something they can use.

To start off, you'll need to get your hands on a t-shirt for each guest. White or black are the most neutral colors and usually go with anything, but the choice is yours.

Next up you'll have to get your hands on images of some of the Wonders of The World. Using your computer, arrange them appropriately and be sure to include the name of your party. As for the invitation details, you can either add them to the front of the t-shirt or the back.

Once done, all you will need to do is contact someone who will be able to print out your t-shirts.

Globe Invitation

To make this invitation you can either use paper mache molded around an inflated balloon or buy each of your friends a small globe. If you are making the paper mache version, you will have to get some blue, green, white and brown paint to decorate it.

When finally done, you will simply need to attach invitations with all the necessary details on (if you are making your globe you can paint them on).

If you are satisfied with the final product, get ready to deliver.
Around the World Party Dress Code
An around the world party typically requires international dress code. However, if you decide on something different, be sure to state it as such under the “Dress Code” section of your invitations.

Around the World Party Activities

Around The World Quiz

For this game you'll either need a quiz set or make up your own questions by doing a little bit of research before the event. If you plan on buying an Around the World quiz set, pay a visit to the appropriate retailer in your area and purchase one there or just log on to the Internet.

The purpose of this game is to test each other's knowledge about the countries of the world. Group your guests together ensuring that those who you suspect to be strong players are with those who may be proficient in other areas – this will make for a balanced game enjoyed by all.

Mime Guess

This game will test two things: your communication skills as well as your acting skills. It is played by two teams being formed and one team leaving the room. As soon as they left, the remaining team has to decide on an idea to act out and someone who will do the initial acting. Now seeing that this is an Around the World party, it might be a good idea to act out something along the theme. Examples include kung fu from China, a Geisha dance from Japan, etc. Now, as soon as everything is decided, it's time for one member of the other team to come back into the room.

Now, the designated actor will have to act out the idea to the person from the other team. This can only be done once. After that the next person from the other team has to enter the room. The previous member of that team then has to act out what has been shown to them. This carries on until the last person of the group outside comes in. The second-to-last person then has to act out what he or she has seen. The last person then has to guess what the original message was.

The International Guided Makeover

This game will work great if there are an equal number of boys to girls (or close) as the former will have to prove their stuff with their makeup skills.

To start off, everyone should divide into two teams. These teams can either be boys on the one and girls on the other or just mixed. Once the teams have been decided it's time to get out the makeup kits (which you will have to tell your friends to bring or get yourself before the party).

The aim of the game is for members of the one team to do the members of the other team's makeup. However, the catch here is that both need to have their eyes closed. That means that the makeup artist will have to lay out all the items he or she will use next to him or her self and be guided by the person being made up on what to do (on vocal instruction). And as this is an Around The World Party, it means that there will have to be a theme for the makeup, such as Chinese, Japanese, etc. Once the one team is finished (and everyone is done laughing), it's time for the positions to be reversed.

As you can imagine, the results could be devastatingly funny! Be sure to keep a prize handy for various categories: the funniest makeup, the worst, the best, etc.

Around The World Fashion Show

For this activity you and your friends will need a couple of newspapers and/or magazines. In addition, some duct tape and a some wire.

Before there can be a fashion show, you need some fashion. As such, all participants have to be split into a couple of groups. These groups then have to make a number of outfits using only the materials mentioned. This can be achieved by using the wire to make a frame for a dress or a hat and then using the duct tape to stick the paper to the frame. And as it is an international party, you and your friends will have to think of an international theme for your fashion show. Examples include Victorian fashion, Chinese fashion, African fashion, etc.

To make this activity a bit more competitive, ensure that there is a first prize for the team with the most original creation.
