The Native Americans, also known as Indians, are those folk who lived from the land in what is today known as America. However most people know them through both the historical and fictional accounts of western films as well as books where they often battled with each other or with the cowboys to prevent claim being made on their land.
Something that not many may know is that the Native Americans arrived in present-day America some 12,000 years ago from Eurasia by traveling over a land bridge at a time when the continents were still connected to each other. Of course not all of them stayed in the same place as some went further south while others decided to settle more to the north.
Unfortunately the arrival of the Europeans didn't go down peacefully as many a war ensued in the years to follow. These wars saw heavy losses on both sides and also saw the extinction of entire Native American cultures and tribes.
However the Native Americans didn't
only make war - when they weren't hunting or fighting, they often
took part in some of the greatest parties you can imagine! So, for
those who want to party like the Native Americans, we've got just the
thing to satisfy your needs. Below you'll find a number of tips to
help your organize the party of the year and one sure to leave your
guests impressed.
As with any party, you’ll need to buy
or make a couple of Native American party invitations first. For
those who’re a little stuck for ideas, you’ll find some of ours

Additional information…
For this invitation you will need to get each of the friends you wish to invite a souvenir arrow head. These can be bought at the appropriate retailer in your area or off the internet.
Once you have the arrow heads, you will
have to buy or make matching invitations to go along with them.
Combine the arrow heads and the invitations and get ready to deliver.
Have a look on the internet for some Native American necklaces or other pieces of jewellery. As soon as you have found appropriate ones, buy one for each of the friends you wish to invite to your party. Once you have those, you will have to make or buy some invitation cards that will contain the details of your party.
When everything is done, simply combine
the necklaces or other pieces of jewellery and get ready to deliver.
This invitation is the same as those above, but will require a dream catcher instead. These can either be bought at the appropriate retailer in your area or off the internet. Alternatively, if you fancy yourself good with your hands, get some instructions off the internet and make them yourself.
When you’re done with the dream catchers, don’t forget the invitation cards as these will contain all the details for your party.
Finally, simply combine the invitation
cards and the dream catchers and get ready to deliver.
For a Native American party the dress code is quite simple: Traditional Native American. If you or your friends are unsure as to what this entails, just have a look on the internet for the appropriate items.
Here are a couple of decorations to consider for your Native American Party. These can be bought from the appropriate retailer in your area or off the internet.
Totem poles (either real or inflatable)
Teepees
Native American Art (against the walls)
Stuffed animals (if you know someone who would lend them to you for the duration of your party)
Balloons (decorated with Native American designs)
Streamers
Plants
Bows, arrows and spears (mounted against the walls)
Ask your dad or another older male to dress up as a Native American chief and wait at the door to welcome your guests. As each guest arrives, the Chief then has to use a standard Native American greeting to greet your friends and give them each a Native American name.
Party favors are small gifts that you
can give your friends when they arrive at the party. These items are
often used as reminders of a good party or at the party itself. Below
you’ll find a couple of ideas which you and your parents can buy
from a store in your area or from the internet.
Stationary
Posters
Calendars
Mugs
Souvenir Arrows

We all know that the Native Americans often painted their faces for different reasons, be it going to war or for any other occasion. For this activity you will have to get your hands on some face paint – enough for all your friends – before the event.
When it’s time for the activity, divide into two groups – the one group doing the makeup and the others having their faces painted. As soon as that’s done, the two groups should switch.
Consider yourself on par with the Native Americans of old, do you? This game will test both your accuracy and your speed. And all you'll need to play it, is a small, soft ball (the hardest object that may be used is a tennis ball).
One person is selected as Chief for the duration of the game. The game starts with the Chief having the ball and having to throw others with it. If someone is hit with the ball anywhere on their body except on clenched fists, they are in the Chief 's team. Those who are not yet in the Chief’s team may hit the ball with their fists or carry it between their firsts, but no other type of contact is allowed (if it does happen, they have to join the Chief’s team.
The winner of the game is the last person to avoid being hit by the ball or joining the Chief 's team.
This game will test your resolve, and your ability to keep a straight face. To play it one person has to be seated and the rest lined up in front of the seated person, facing him or her.
The object of the game is to make the
seated person laugh. Whoever manages this gets to take the seat and
test their own resolve.
A fun game that will definitely see some weird postures (and also an excellent ice breaker). And all you will need, are two apples.
To start off, you and your friends will
have to divide into two groups. Each group then has an apple which
one of the members (of each group) then has clenched between their
lower jaws and their throat. This person then has to pass it to the
person to their left, who has to receive and hold the apple between
their lower jaws and their throat. And so the game continues until
each group has completed a full circle pass. The group that finishes
first, wins.
As the Native Americans had their own
cuisine, you'll have to do some research and get your hands on some
recipes. Traditional dishes of the Native Americans include the
following:
Corn bread
Fry Bread
Succotash
Pemmican
Buffalo Stew
Dry meats
Chili Stew
Salted Salmon
But of course these might not be to everyone’s taste and, as such, why not just get a couple of things you know everyone will enjoy. These include pizzas, burgers, French fries, tacos, kebabs, etc. The same goes for drinks.
