Introduction

It's time again for a party, and if they theme you had in mind was a pink party, then you have come to the right place! Below you will find all the little bits of information required to organize the successful pink fandango. But before we get to that, here are some information related to the color of pink which you might not have known before (because we sure didn't).

Now if you were alive during the Elizabethan era, then you wouldn't have been able to wear pink whenever you felt like it. Back then wearing the color pink was dictated by something called the Sumptuary Laws, which held that garments of the color pink could only be worn by people of a distinct social and religious standing. And keeping with religion, we also observe the color pink as the official color of the third Sunday of the Advent period and the fourth Sunday in Lent. Other religious facts of significance that involves the color pink include the Invisible Pink Unicorn (the goddess of a parody religion) and Meher Baba, an Indian spiritual leader who wore pink not only because he liked it, but to please one of his closest female followers, Mehera Rani.

But as you may have guessed, pink is not only a feature in religion or an indication of social standing. The color pink has also been featured in Bruce Springsteen's Pink Cadillac - a car that Elvis Presley drove. And for those who love the Power Rangers, you will be pleased to know that the Pink Power Rangers are said to be the smartest, and also all female, which you could have guessed as pink is traditionally a feminine color that is associated with joy and health. But then again, this wasn't always the case: some say that until the 1940's, light blue was usually the color matched with girls and pink with the boys (be cause it was thought light blue is a more delicate color).

And now, it is time for us to get going with some seriously pink party organization! So be sure to get a pen and paper ready if you're going to take some notes, otherwise be sure to bookmark this page for future reference.

Pink T-shirt Invitation

To make this invitation you will first have to get your friends’ sizes and then order the t-shirts from an appropriate supplier in your area or from the internet.

When you have got the t-shirts, it's on to the design, for which you may need some software. If you don't already have the appropriate software on your computer, have a look on the internet for some free screen-printing software or pay a visit to your local software retailer and ask them for advice.

Now when you are designing the image, take care to ensure that it remains in line with the Pink theme. This design will typically be for the front while the details of your party will be on the back (you can add some minor Pink decorations there, too).

When that’s done, all you will need to do is get in touch with your local screen printing firm, send them your designs as well as the appropriate instructions (and the blank t-shirts).

And finally, when your t-shirts are printed, all that's left to do is get ready to deliver!

Pink Postcard

Who doesn’t like pink? For many it’s a favorite color. And as such, the Pink Postcard will be the perfect invitation.

For this invitation you only need a computer connected to the internet and loaded with the appropriate software (such as image editing suites and word processors). In addition, you will need a couple of blank postcards and of course a printer capable of printing on postcards. If you don't have one, then be sure to get in touch with your local printing store and make use of their services.

Now, as you can imagine, you will have to design a suitable image for the front of your postcard. This can be virtually anything, but will have to keep in line with the Pink theme. In addition, you will have to add the name of your party to the front of the post card. If your happy with your work, it’s on to the back of the postcard where all the invitation details should be added.

When that's done and your design looks good on screen, then it's time to have it printed. Do note that it will be best to print a sample first to ensure that it looks as you intended it too. If it does, then print away, apply your stamps and get ready to deliver!

Pink Light Flashlight

The pink flashlight is an easy and original invitation that will require you to get a flashlight for each of the friends you wish to invite. Now seeing as pink is a quite feminine color (and assuming you will be inviting mostly girls to your party) you will have to get your hands on flashlights that have a feminine appeal to them. Have a look in appropriate supply stores in your area or, failing that, on the internet.

When you have the flashlights, you will have to get your hands on some pink semi-transparent film. Quite simply, these will come over the lens of your flashlights and fastened with a pink ribbon. If the lens is big enough, why not write the details for your party on the semi-transparent film in a neat hand. Alternatively, make a couple of paper-based invitations to be attached to the flashlight and get ready to deliver.

Pink Party Dress Code

Pink! Whatever your guests wear, it has to be pink. If that’s fine with you, then state it as such on your invitations under the “Dress Code” section.

Pink Party Decorations

Here are a couple of decorations to consider for your Pink Party. These can be bought from the appropriate retailer in your area or off the internet. Now take care to note that pink has to be the primary color. But just to ensure that everything’s not overly pink, get some whites and baby blues (and perhaps different shades of pink) decorations.

  • Banners

  • Balloons

  • Streamers

  • Posters (perhaps of your favorite music groups)

  • Flowers

  • Table Cloths

  • Centerpieces (fruits and/or ornaments)

Pink Party Activities

There’s nothing like a good party activity to ensure that a great time is had by all. Below are a couple of ideas which you can use and change as you want to suit the purposes of your party.

Fashion Show

For this activity you and your friends will need a couple of newspapers and/or magazines as well as lots of pink paper. In addition, some duct tape and a some wire could come in useful (as well as something to cut the wire with).

Before there can be a fashion show, you need some fashion. As such, all participants have to be split into a couple of groups. These groups then have to make a number of outfits using only the materials mentioned. This can be achieved by using the wire to make a frame for a dress or a hat and then using the duct tape to stick the paper to the frame. Remember that the theme of our party is Pink which means you and your friends will have to think... well, Pink.

To make this activity a bit more competitive, ensure that there is a first prize for the team with the most original creation.

Truth or Dare

This is a fun game to play at any party and will test all the participant’s nerve. If you don’t know how to play this game, then we’ll give you a quick run through:

To start off you will have to get a some pieces of paper – equal in number to the amount of guests at the event. Next, write their name on one side of a piece of paper and either “Truth” or “Dare” on the other side. When that’s done, roll up the pieces of paper and put them into individual balloons.

When it’s time for the event, you and your friends will have to take a balloon each and take turns to pop it. Now, when someone has popped their balloon and there’s a “Truth” on the piece of paper, then they have to ask the person whose name is on the opposite side a question. This person then has to answer it, truthfully. If there’s a “Dare” on the paper, then the person whose name is on the opposite side has to be dared to do something – anything (within reason) and they have to do it.

Pass The Hat

To play this game you will need... a hat. Once you have the hat, you and your friends will have to sit in a circle and pass the hat from one person to the next. But wait, that's not all! You're not allowed to use your hands, which could complicate things.

Start the game going from left to right and check that your friends don't try and take the easy way. If they do, then they are out for this round. In addition, should the hat drop to the floor, then it must again be picked up without using your hands.

Pass The Hat 2

A cool game to play and one that makes an excellent ice breaker – and all you will need is a hat.

The rules of the game state that the hat has to be passed from the head of one person to the head of the next, without using any hands. Whether you go clockwise or anticlockwise, the choice is up to you, but no hands!

Food & Drink

Seeing as it’s a pink party, you’ll have to put your thinking hat on for foods that are pink. Think in terms of cakes, cupcakes, ice cream, biscuits, candy, etc. And just to keep things interesting with a little variation, include a some of your favorite foods, like pizzas, chicken wings, French fries, hot dogs, etc. And in terms of drinks, why not look on the internet for recipes to use for pink cocktails? Otherwise it could just be as interesting to mix some of your favorite drinks to make a pink punch.
