Introduction

Whether you are 80 years old or 8 years old, there's one thing most of us have in common: we all love super heroes. For that reason alone do we spend quite a couple of dollars each year to go and see films and buy our kids super hero video games. And, every once in a while, we all wish to be young again by having our own super hero parties, as grown ups. Well, as they say, there's not better time than now!

Below you'll find a couple of tips on organizing that ultimate super hero party! From the invitations right down to the foods and drinks, our pointers might just help you organize a super party for some marvelous people. But first, a bit of super hero history.

Super heroes have in fact been long since a part of human history and predates characters like Wonder Woman and The Flash by a number of millennia. Think of Hercules, think of Perseus and Odysseus - these were the super heroes of old.

Moving a bit closer to our current times, we found that the Victorians continued the superhero tradition with characters like Robin Hood and The Scarlet Pimpernel - the latter perhaps being one of the first to set the stage for the masked super hero with the secret identity.

Today super heroes have become a part of our culture. After all, it inspires dreams and gives people something to think about: "What if...?" This is indeed the case with Superman, a character that first appeared in 1938; the product of writer Jerry Siegel and illustrator Joe Shuster. The product of their imaginations became a hit and gave rise to a number of other super heroes which include, but are not limited to, Batman, Green Lanter, Hawkman and The Hulk.

Custom Superheroes Invitation

Feeling a little bit creative? If so then this invitation is especially for you. And all you will need is a computer loaded with the appropriate software and a printer. In addition, it would be wise to use a template for the invitation as the layout could prove to be a problem otherwise.

Now, all you will need to do for this invitation is create a cover design. As the theme is Superheroes, you can make a collage of all the various superheroes emblems, a custom superhero emblem for your party, etc. Do remember to include your party name as part of the design so that you’re friends will know what the invitation is about.

Next up you will have to include all the invitation details on the flip side or in the inside of your card. Add some secondary decorations to avoid leaving too much blank space.

And finally, when all has been done and you are satisfied, it’s time to print it out!

Superheroes Award

Every superhero deserves an award! As such, this invitation will be perfect for all the superheroes you wish to invite to your party.

For this invitation you'll need a certificate template (if you don't have one on your computer, download it from the internet) a printer capable of printing on heavy paper and, of course, the paper itself (available from stationary shops and, in some cases, pre-printed with nice borders).

Once you have all the tools and items, it’s time to start designing your certificate. Since you already have the template, you will only need to add some images and words. Again, think in terms of superhero emblems for the images as they generally don’t take too much space.

Here’s an idea for the wording:

Gotham City

Certificate of Bravery

This certificate is presented to

When everything’s finished, combine the mask and the invitation and get ready to deliver.

Super Heroes Party Activities

Ping Pong Ball Races

It might be easy to move mountains using superior strength, but how good do you think superheroes will be with these ping pong ball races?

To play this game you will need a flat surface (possibly with a number of obstructions), a two or three straws and an equal amount of ping pong balls.

Quite simply, the object of the game is to get the ping pong ball from the starting line to the finish line by blowing it with the straw. The rules state that if someone handles the ball with the straw or in any way (basically if the ball is touched), then they have to start over.

Superheroes Acronyms

Superheroes need super minds, especially when fighting some of the worst villains around. As such, this game will help you and your friends hone those mental skills.

The game starts off with each one of the guests thinking up a four letter word. Once each guest has one, simply write it down on a piece of paper and put it in a hat or a bowl.

The purpose of this game is to assume that each word is an acronym. As such, one person should draw a word from the hat or the bowl and state the first noun that pops into his or her head that begins with the same letter as the acronym. The next person in a clockwise direction should provide a verb beginning with the same letter as the second letter of the acronym. The third person should supply an adjective or adverb beginning with the same letter as the third letter of the adjective and the fourth person a noun beginning with the same letter as the fourth one of the acronym.

Remember, you’ll have to be quick and say the first word that pops into your head.

Towel Jump

Done testing those superhero minds? Well, now it’s time to test those superhero legs and see how far you can leap.

The game is started by laying out the towels (in full length but minimal width) about a foot away from each other with the last towel placed two feet away from the second-to-last one. When done they should resemble long worms stretched parallel to each other on the ground.

The rules of the games are as such: each participant gets the chance to do one length. This is done by running over the towels and taking care not to step on any of them. When all the participants have run the initial length, the towels have to be moved apart another foot and everyone gets another go.

The trick of the game is to only have one foot between any two towels at all times. If more than one foot touches the ground between any two towels, that person is out. Should a towel be stepped on, that person is out as well.

Super Hero Trivia

Superhero trivia sets can either be bought on the internet or in appropriate shops in your area. Alternatively, just log on to the internet and do the according research to set up your own question and answer sets.

When it’s time for the activity, divide into groups and see which group knows their superheroes the best.

To make the activity rewarding, have a first prize ready at the end of the quiz.
